New Transportation Cuts for Hillsborough Public Schools
Due to transportation cuts, middle school students living 2 miles or less from Hillsborough Middle School and high school students living 2.5 miles or less from Hillsborough High School will not be provided courtesy busing for the next school year. With courtesy busing being previously provided to all residential students, this transportation update brings new alterations to students’ morning schedules, as many will now have to find rides or walk to school.
Hillsborough Schools Appoints New Supervisor of Visual / Performing Arts and Related Areas
Christopher Ireland has been selected as the new Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts and Related Areas for the school district. Ireland was approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the July 22 meeting and will begin his new position with the district in September
MHS Class of 2019 Graduates with Pride
Montgomery High School bade farewell to the Class of 2019 on Monday, June 24th, as the talented, ambitious, and kind students came to the end of their twelve year journey. The graduation ceremony was followed by a reception inside the school filled with laughter, tears, and many, many pictures. Congratulations to the class of 2019!

Hillsborough High School’s Class of 2019 took their final steps together at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton on June 20. As Karen Bingert, HHS principal, announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, the Class of 2019,” the energy in the arena quite literally soared along with graduation caps into the air. We wish you the best, HHS Class of 2019, as you take on new adventures!
Principal Announced for Triangle Elementary School
Anthony Aliperti has been selected as the new principal of Triangle Elementary School in Hillsborough effective August 11. Mr. Aliperti was approved with a unanimous vote at the June 10, 2019, Hillsborough Board of Education meeting.
MHS Students Put Together First Montgomery Business Festival
The inaugural Montgomery Business Festival (MBF) was hosted by the Montgomery High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) on Saturday, May 18. Students explored their interest in business through various opportunities including workshops, networking, and a pitch contest.
Hillsborough Schools Appoints New Director of Human Resources
Hillsborough Township Public Schools announces the selection of Michael Callahan as the new Director of Human Resources for the school district. Callahan was unanimously approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the June 10th meeting and will begin his new position with the district on July 2, 2019.
2 Hillsborough Students Reach National History Day Finals
ARIS students, Nitya Balasubramanian and Ritija Bhargava, earned a place at the national finals with their exhibit titled, “Spanish Invasion of the Americas: Tragedy and Triumph of a Continent.” They attended the event at University of Maryland where other students from around the country showcased their documentaries, websites, performances, and exhibits based on this year’s theme.
Library To Host College Information Night
Hillsborough Public Library is hosting “The College Process: Everything You Need to Know” on Tuesday, June 4. Students grades 9 through 12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend the event to learn more about the college application process. The event will be led by Susan Alaimo, the founder and director of S.A.T. Smart, a local test preparation company, and author of “College Planning Strategies for New Jersey Students.”
With Vaping On The Rise, You Need To Be AWARE
Juuls are the flash drive look-alike that are taking the world by storm one puff at a time. Just when parents thought that smoking cigarettes was out, e-cigarettes are in. As many are realizing, Juuls have proven just as addicting to some as the cigarettes they are trying to escape. The AWARE program is a group of Hillsborough students aiming to change this.
“Spirit Night 2019” at Hillsborough High School
On Friday, May 3rd, Hillsborough High School hosted its annual “Spirit Night;” all four grades gathered to show their class spirit and “Boro Pride” in a friendly competition.

Montgomery Senior Class Goes to Disney
Tuesday, February 26th started out as an ordinary school day for the seniors at Montgomery High School. Yet, instead of trudging to first period, they excitedly prepared to board the bus to Newark International Airport for the senior class trip to Walt Disney World. The Senior Trip was an opportunity for Montgomery Seniors to connect with their classmates before they head off to college this fall.

Hillsborough's Director of Guidance Named Somerset County School Counselor Of The Year
Jessica Smedley, the Director of Guidance of Hillsborough Township Public Schools, was named the Somerset County School Counselor of the Year 2019. The purpose of the award is to recognize school counselors for their achievements as well as for outstanding service to their school communities. School counselors are nominated for this honor by their colleagues and selected by the SCSCA members.
