New Transportation Cuts for Hillsborough Public Schools

Due to transportation cuts, middle school students living 2 miles or less from Hillsborough Middle School and high school students living 2.5 miles or less from Hillsborough High School will not be provided courtesy busing for the next school year. With courtesy busing being previously provided to all residential students, this transportation update brings new alterations to students’ morning schedules, as many will now have to find rides or walk to school.

ARIS students, Nitya Balasubramanian and Ritija Bhargava, earned a place at the national finals with their exhibit titled, “Spanish Invasion of the Americas: Tragedy and Triumph of a Continent.” They attended the event at University of Maryland where other students from around the country showcased their documentaries, websites, performances, and exhibits based on this year’s theme.

Students grades 9 through 12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend the event to learn more about the college application process. The event will be led by Susan Alaimo, the founder and director of S.A.T. Smart, a local test preparation company, and author of “College Planning Strategies for New Jersey Students.”

Jessica Smedley, the Director of Guidance of Hillsborough Township Public Schools, was named the Somerset County School Counselor of the Year 2019. The purpose of the award is to recognize school counselors for their achievements as well as for outstanding service to their school communities. School counselors are nominated for this honor by their colleagues and selected by the SCSCA members.
