“Spirit Night 2019” at Hillsborough High School

On Friday, May 3rd, Hillsborough High School hosted its annual “Spirit Night;” all four grades gathered to show their class spirit and “Boro Pride” in a friendly competition. This year, students witnessed Freshman Fortune showing their “money moves” on the dance floor, Sophomore Speedway speeding towards 2nd place, Junior Jungle roaring for their seniors, and Senior Surf’s Up catching some 1st place waves!

Months prior to the big night, students were tasked with choreographing dance numbers, designing class t-shirts, painting murals, and constructing displays. Students were given full creative liberty, allowing them to work collaboratively to help their grade win.

During school, students could be seen wearing their class t-shirts and other themed accessories to promote their class pride. With both the displays and murals revealed, this got students’ energy and school spirit ready for the big night.

After the national anthem was sung, the night of events began! From classic to brand new games, students were fully captivated in what Spirit Night had to offer. Competitions students really enjoyed included tug-of-war and tic-tac-toe. Despite a few loses within each grade, everyone was continuously respectful and supportive of each other, winner or loser.

At the end of the night, the Seniors took home the gold, winning both Spirit Night and Spirit Year! Sophomores came in a close second, with Juniors in third and Freshman finishing in fourth.
