YMCA To Host Annual Hillsborough HOP

Hillsborough YMCA will host its annual Hillsborough Hop 5K run this Saturday, June 1. The event raises funds to help Hillsborough YMCA continue to provide programs and services for the community.

The event will start at 8 a.m. at the doors of the YMCA. Runners will complete a course through the town, and run through the finish line at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building. At 9:15 a.m., there will be an awards ceremony for the runners.

“Hillsborough YMCA Hop 5K brings families and the community together in a fun race that encourages everyone to strive for and reach a personal fitness goal,” said the Somerset County YMCA’s website.

This is a certified run that will take place on a NJ USATF-sanctioned course.

Local businesses and organizations are sponsoring the race, including Hillsborough Youth Services Commission and Hillsborough Education Association.

Attendees and participants are invited to stay after the race and attend the Green Living and Wellness Fair at the Municipal Building, which is running from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The fair is being held to raise awareness about local resources and provide tips for living a healthy lifestyle. There is also a logo contest being held for sustainable Hillsborough.

Race day registration is not permitted, but those who are interested can register for the race in person on Friday, May 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough YMCA. The registration fee is $40. Online registration has ended.

This event is a staple of the community and draws participants of all ages for an active and fun day.
