Gregoire Simonet's Ironman for Steps Together
At a time when fundraising events are so limited by the COVID-19 pandemic, Steps Together has officially gone international to support the families assisted by Steps Together. Hillsborough resident Abed Medawar, Vice President of Trade Development at Masterpiece International, connected the mission of Steps Together with the mission of Gregoire Simonet’s effort to become a 3 time Ironman finisher.
Gregoire will complete his 3rd Iron Man competition in Tallinn, Estonia on September 5, 2020 while raising funds and awareness for Steps Together. This effort has been graciously supported by the international community, the Hillsborough community and by Hillsborough Rotary. Gregoire has raised nearly $10,000 for Steps Together towards his goal of raising $14,000 in less than 20 days. Steps Together welcomes any and all donations or pledges in support of Gregoire's 140-mile effort.
ABOUT GREGOIRE SIMONET
“After running a few marathons, I felt I wanted to go another step forward in sports and figured out swimming and biking were also fun! Running was my favorite sport, but I wanted to enjoy the diversity of what a triathlon could offer. And THE race in the triathlon world is the Ironman Challenge: a long-distance race consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run. The 140.6-mile distance seemed to be unreachable until I decided to dare to register for the Ironman in Klagenfurt, Austria with two running buddies in 2014. I was filled with so much motivation and energy to accomplish a 6-month training, before thinking about crossing that finish lane. And, yes, I did. That brief moment after 13 hours of effort had given me so many thrills and such satisfaction. This is the finish lane you will never forget!
I also raced in Cervia, Italy in 2019 and am a month away from another Ironman in Tallin, Estonia. The same excitement and motivation remain, going towards an uncertain day where so many unexpected things may happen. I am looking forward to racing this triathlon, even more so with the Steps Together cause, which makes this wonderful experience even more meaningful!”

Steps Together is a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring the community to pay their blessings forward and support Somerset County families facing a medical crisis. Formed in 2013, the incredible support of the community has allowed Steps Together to assist more families, provide them with greater financial relief and bring awareness to the conditions that impact them.
