Events Hosted By The Somerset County Library System

Are you having trouble finding something to keep you or your family busy during the day? Try looking at some events that your local Somerset County library has coming up! There are a wide range of events that are being held by the local libraries and here are just a few: an outdoor concert by the Zydeco Revelators at the Warren Township Library, multiple readers’ roundtables and if your child enjoys playing with Legos®, there is also a Lego® club that meets weekly.

There are a variety of events that are for children 3 to 16 years of age. For example, for the younger children, the library is offering twilight tales, which are early evening stories and songs for the children, SOARING Dial-a-Story, where you call 908-458-8409 every Tuesday anytime and listen to a story with your child. And for the older kids, grades 5-12, the library offers a weekly Lego® Club, Introduction to Robotics as well as an introduction to coding languages such as Python.

The library offers events for adults as well. For example, there is the online yoga class that is available every Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm starting from September 5th and multiple presentations for adults to learn about some history about New Jersey and great feats some New Jersey natives have accomplished. Some presentations include a talk by New Jersey native, Dan Stringham, who climbed Mount Everest back in 2018 and the history of women’s rights activist and New Jersey native, Alice Paul, who was a New Jersey.

Due to the current situation, many of these events will be taking place online for the safety of participants. However, the library will host some in-person events, such as the Zydeco Revelators concert, with strict safety protocols such as limited number of participants and required face coverings.

In order to secure your spot in these events, you should go to https://sclsnj.libnet.info/events and register for Somerset County Library events.
