Drone Crash Incident Report from Hillsborough Township Police

On December 12, 2024, the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to a reported drone crash near 315 Route 206 in Hillsborough, NJ. According to a press release from the department, a witness observed drones flying in the area, with one allegedly striking high-power tension lines before crashing into a nearby field.

Multiple emergency response agencies, including Hillsborough Police, the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, and local fire departments, conducted a thorough search by air and on foot. Despite efforts continuing into the following morning, no downed drone was located. The search concluded on December 13, 2024, at 12:10 p.m. Authorities confirmed there is no known threat to public safety at this time.
