Fall Activities For Kids at Duke Farms
Getting kids outside and invested in learning about nature is a struggle at times. However, Duke Farms offers many opportunities and events to help children get excited about the world around them. Throughout fall , Duke Farms’ calendar boasts a great line-up of fun, family-friendly classes.
Some of these events include the "Nature Storytime for Sprouts" series, in which Duke Farms offers an exciting program for 3-6 year olds and their families once a month. These two-hour activities teach subjects such as roly polies, leaves, and squashes and gourds. Duke Farm’s website explains that “each month our “sprouts” will use their senses to connect to the natural world through nature stories, short hikes, songs and nature crafts”.
Duke Farms also offers the “Garden Sprouts”, which is a class that children can participate in to learn more about Duke’s farms and wildlife. Additionally, families can go on wildlife walks, learn about space, birds, and animal habitats.
Other family class options include Brookside Storytime, Nocturnal Wildlife Walk, Our Place in Space, What Did the Owl Eat? and Junior Gardeners.
Another adventurous way to experience Duke Farms is through a Geocaching class. Geocaching is a fun, exciting activity where boxes are scattered throughout the Duke property that contain objects that enable participants to learn more about Dukes and nature in general.
