Visit Duke Farms
In 1925, Doris Duke inherited Duke Farms from her father, James Buchanan (J.B.) Duke. Doris, in her will, stated that Duke Farms should protect wildlife and be used for agriculture, horticulture, and research. Today, over 1,000 acres of the 2,470-acre property is open to the public! Duke Farms ultimately works to restore ecologically functioning systems, educates visitors on the stewardship process, and develops a conservation ethic. You can learn more about the environment, history, or just relax while at Duke Farms.
