Hillsborough Celebrates Independence Day
Hillsborough welcomed Independence Day with its annual fireworks celebration, held at Auten Road Intermediate School, on Saturday, June 29. This year, the fireworks celebration was combined with Hillsborough Music Fest to create an even more enjoyable night for attendees.
“I think it was pretty cool how this year they changed the layout and tried to make it more like a real music festival. It definitely added to the whole experience of the night,” said attendee, Anjana Gulapalyam.
Patrons were able to access food tents, inflatable amusements, pay to play boardwalk games, and other sources of entertainment. Local bands and singers performed on stage during the festival, which contributed towards the sense of community during the event.
All proceeds of the night were donated towards the My Son, Your Daughter: The Jonah Johnson Youth Scholarship Fund, which promotes suicide prevention and anti-violence Education.
Although there had been rain earlier in the day, the fireworks still took place in the evening and many Hillsborough residents were able to enjoy one of the most anticipated nights of the year.
